       Barbara Henderson was born in 1957. She received her B.A. at the University of Washington in 1979. She obtained her J.D. at Seattle University School of Law in 1986 (magna cum laude).

       Prior to attending law school, Ms. Henderson spent several years in the contract administration section of a large regional bank handling all manner of secured transactions. During the course of her law studies, she was an associate editor of the Law Review and was employed as a legal intern by Smith Alling Lane during her second year of law school.

       Upon graduation in 1986, Barbara became an associate of Smith Alling Lane where she was initially involved in major antitrust litigation surrounding power plant construction. Barbara emphasizes litigation, including general civil litigation, family law, and environmental and land use litigation. Ms. Henderson has served on the Board of Directors of Key Peninsula Community Services, Inc. She also is a member of the American, Washington State and Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Associations, and is currently the President of the Family Law Section of the Washington State Bar Association. In addition, Ms. Henderson has served for four years as a commissioner pro tem in the Pierce County Superior Court. She is admitted to practice before the Washington State and federal courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
